Data Visualisation using R – Training Course

This training course is about Data Visualisation using R: The Statistical Programming Language. R is widely used as a data analysis tool and data visualisation is an important part of that. In this training course Data Visualisation using R (DR202) you’ll learn some of the basics of data visualisation, as well as more advanced graphical methods. Visual presentation of data and results is an important part of data analysis, and a key element in data mining as well as reporting. A good graph or chart can make your data and results understandable to you, your colleagues, clients or customers.

During the Data Visualisation using R training course you will learn how to conduct data visualisation using R to produce a range of different graphs that will allow you to present data in the most appropriate manner. You’ll learn about basic graph types such as bar charts, scatter and box-whisker plots, as well as more advanced “exploratory” types such as scatter plot matrices and conditioning plots. You will also learn advanced topics, such as how to alter graphical parameters, and thus customise your graphics to best effect.

Some prior experience of using R would be useful, as you will focus on the graphical capabilities of R. No particular knowledge of statistical analysis is required.

You’ll simply need a computer and the R program. A spreadsheet is also helpful, but not essential. Online courses are delivered using the Zoom software, which is available for Windows or Macintosh computers. Support material is supplied online, usually via Google Classroom.

You can get R from the R-Project website. We also recommend using RStudio, which is a useful “wrapper” for R. RStudio is very useful and has many additional features that help “drive” R.

The duration of the Data Visualisation using R training course is two days (starting at 9.30am and ending around 4.30pm).

We can also arrange training at our main training centre in London, or at your workplace.
