Making Sense of Data (DS101)
This Statistical Analysis and Data Training Course is aimed at beginners in the field of Data Science. It is a Data Training Course designed to give you a foundation in the subject of Data Science, and focusses on core methods of summarising data.
In this Data Training Course (Making Sense of Data – DS101), you will learn how to use Excel to summarise data effectively, which helps make “raw” data comprehensible. You will learn the skills required to use Excel formulas to gain insight into data by using various summary statistics.
Summarising data is a key skill and the foundation for more complicated methods of Statistical Analysis. This Statistical Analysis Course makes a good stepping-stone to more advanced Data Training Courses. You’ll learn key skills in summarising data including:
- Data Layout – how to arrange and manage your data using data tables and Pivot Tables.
- Averages – measures of central tendency, such as mean, median and mode.
- Dispersion – measures of the spread of data, such as standard deviation, confidence intervals, quartiles and standard error.
- Shape – the distribution or “shape” of data, such as skewness, kurtosis, histogram and tally plot.
This Statistical Analysis Course will give you the core skills you need for data summary.
Making Sense of Data
Making Sense of Data is an important skill. Our modern world is a complicated place, and we are bombarded by data at every turn. The first step to understanding and making sense of data is being able to summarise data.
In this training course (Making Sense of Data – DS101) you will learn to use Excel to summarise data. You will learn the skills you need to take “raw” data and summarise them effectively, thus making the data more readily comprehensible. Understanding how to summarise data is an important step in the process of data analysis, and underpins all statistics tests. Summarising data is also helpful in the graphical presentation of data.
Making Sense of Data is the starting point for any journey into Data Analysis. You’ll learn core skills in both Data Science and in using Excel, such as:
- How to arrange your data.
- How to use data tables.
- How to use Pivot Tables.
- How to use Excel formulas to summarise data.
- How to use Excel to draw a histogram.
- Which summary statistics are most appropriate for your data.
This training course makes a good foundation for the study of Data Science, regardless of your field of study or enterprise.
Using Excel for Statistics & Data Analysis
In this training course you will be using Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software (any reasonably up to date version). Using Excel for Data Analysis makes a good introduction to Data Science, as Excel is a familiar and widely available computer program.
Using Excel for Statistics is an excellent starting point for learning about Data Science, as Excel has a wide range of built-in tools that can help with summarising data. Being able to summarise data is fundamental to all forms of Data Exploration and data analysis. In this training course you will be using Excel for Data Analysis and learning the skills you need to make data more comprehensible.
In this training course you will learn about using Excel for Data Analysis by accessing the various formulas and tools that allow you to summarise data. You’ll learn how to arrange and manage data, and to use data table and Pivot Table tools. You will learn about using Excel for statistics such as mean, median, skewness, kurtosis, confidence intervals and others. You will also learn how to create histograms and tally plots to help visualise the distribution of your data.
Statistics & Data Course Overview
This Statistics Course is an introduction to data science. You’ll learn how to make numbers comprehensible. This is the starting point to more complicated data analysis; being able to summarise data allows you to start the process of data mining and exploration of patterns and trends. In this Data Course you’ll also learn how to use your spreadsheet program to help you explore and make sense of data by working through example datasets.
